Starting with a pilot hole from the surface, the horizontal directional drilling follows a profile underneath the obstacle, popping back to the surface on the other side.
Next, the team reams the pilot hole so it's large enough to fit the pipeline that needs to be installed.
Finally, the pipeline is pulled through the space, underneath the obstacle, and put in place, completing the installation.
